When cardiac arrest occurs, it causes the body to lack oxygen and nutrients in tissues resulting to death of a patient. Only about 8 percent of patients experiencing sudden pulmonary arrest outside health facilities will survive. Meaning close to 92 percent will lose their lives. But some lives can be saved if a resuscitation is conducted soon a person is attacked. Undertaking CPR certification courses not only helps one to save lives but also stand a better chance of getting employment.

Anyone can take this course and acquire that essential skill for saving lives. If you do not have the time for physical classes, you could as well consider the online classes. Moreover, it has been estimated that about 70 percent of people who encounter incidents of a person experiencing pulmonary arrest, they are either unable to do it or they do not feel confident.

If the heart stops, you could help maintain the circulation by doing chest compressions. When combined with rescue breathing or mouth-to-mouth breathing, it could produce desired results. People who do not feel comfortable performing the rescue breathing or are untrained on how to do the mouth to mouth resuscitation, they may consider the compression only CPR.

At times, you may find that when you stay for a long time without practicing it, the skill lapses and you cannot be able to perform resuscitation well. In times of cardiac arrests, a person may show gasps of breathe or what is known as agonal breathing. This should not be confused with the normal breathing and it is important that resuscitation be given right away.

It is very difficult to cope with a situation where a person has collapsed from cardiac arrest and you do not possess the resuscitation skill. It is more painful watching a person die because you lack this essential first aid and life saving skill. If you were trained, you could help that person to survive and get medical attention.

Being confronted with an incident where resuscitation is needed is one thing that is troubling. It is even worse if it happens and you have no skill to assist in resuscitation. Resuscitation helps provide impulses that could allow the heart to beat artificially thus allowing blood to keep on flowing to other parts of the body.

If you were called to administer resuscitation in an emergency, you would most likely be doing it for a child, parent, spouse, or even a friend at home. For those who have not made the decision to train, it would be important they consider it now. You may not know when you will be called to resuscitate.

It makes a big difference between dying and surviving when resuscitation is provided. It may not be apparent to you that most of the incidents requiring resuscitation happen at home. About 4 in 5 people who experience sudden cardiac arrest, it happens in homes where there are no medics who can provide first aid through resuscitation. Therefore, if you have trained in CPR, and you are called to offer the procedure, it is mostly probably that you are performing it to a loved one.
