Many years ago it was unheard of for a competition to have running, cycling as well as swimming one after the other in the same event. The Kinetic Half Triathlon is one such event and takes place annually. This event covers a distance of over ninety kilometres and the contestants climb as much as five hundred and seventy feet up.

It all started out as a dream of one athlete. Entering a Biathlon he started to wonder if making the distances of the running and swimming longer would be more of a challenge. A course was designed where there would be a track one would have to run barefoot and another where shoes would be needed. He then contacted a chairman of the San Diego Track Club Calendar and asked if this event could be put onto the calendar.

Before starting each session always do a few simple warm up and stretch exercises as these can prevent injuries. There are three major injuries that a beginner can get and the first in Plantar Fasciitis. This is a band of tissue that connects ones toes to the heel bone and tiny tears in the ligaments can happen which can lead to swelling and are usually painful.

The running will have four different first aid stations and will be fully stocked with oranges, energy drinks, water as well as cola, E-Caps and salty snacks. For those needing pit stops portable toilets will be set up as well. Along the route tents will be set up so the runners can be exposed to a layer of water spray to cool down.

The next is Achilles Tendinitis and can happen if one increases the distance each day without giving the body time to adjust. The pain will be at the back of one's heel and will become more painful when running. Stiffness is also a sign and together with swelling and hearing a popping sound means that the Achilles tendon has been ruptured. A doctor will need to be seen straight away.

When everyone had crossed the finish line many of the competitors decided to go for a celebratory supper of pizza. Everyone was in a great mood considering many had spent the day working. Many of the names that completed this event went on to become familiar in the triathletes of today.

The third most common injury is Patella Tendonitis or jumper's knee. This happens with excessive running and can strain and irritate the knee joint resulting in swelling and pain. It can often make climbing stairs nearly impossible as well as trying to stand up after sitting in a chair.

This county is governed by a Board of Supervisors and they set out the policies and approve land rezoning as well as handle all funds. They have many schools and colleges as well as universities ensuring a good educational system for all. Their emergency services have volunteers to help and the fire and rescue services run from just before five in the morning to six in the evening.
